The part of the beach between the football field of Tarifa and where the Rio Jara enters the ocean is perfect to practice sports like windsurfing and kitesurfing.

Most of Tarifa's sun bathing tourists prefer to stay on the city beach, where they could find bars, restaurants and showers. That's why the Playa Rio Jara is never crowded and providing lots of space for kites to start and land.

When the tide comes up really high, a large lagoon on the beach fills up with water near the Rio Jara. On those days the conditions for kitesurfing beginners are just perfect as the water isn't any deeper than 30cm.
